The Three Eternal Questions
Move gently through each question. Write what arises — your reflection is saved privately to your journey.
Why were we created?
The purpose of life
The Essence of Worship is Recognition (Ma'rifah)
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
— Qur'an (51:56)
When explaining this verse, the renowned companion Ibn 'Abbas (RA) clarified:
“Except that they may know Me (Liya'rifūn).”
— Ibn 'Abbas (RA)
Why it matters
True worship ('Ibādah) begins with recognition (Ma'rifah). We were created not merely for routine rituals, but to discover, know, and build a deep, conscious relationship with our Creator.
To Excel in Character & Action
“He created death and life to test which of you is best in deed.”
— Surah Al-Mulk (67:2)
Why it matters
Life is a temporary test of integrity, faith, and righteous action.
To Serve as Stewards & Benefit Others
“The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.”
— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, 5787)
Why it matters
We are appointed as guardians (Khulafa') on Earth to establish justice and serve humanity.
A prompt for reflection
Pause for a moment. If your life were an instrument tuned toward a single note, what would that note be? What would it mean for your days to be shaped by remembrance rather than by distraction?
